To avoid over-extraction when using a Moka pot, follow these tips:

  1. Begin with freshly roasted coffee beans and grind them to a medium-fine to fine consistency. Avoid using pre-ground coffee or a grind that is too fine, as this can lead to over-extraction.
  2. Use the correct water temperature. Water should be hot but not boiling. Boiling water can cause over-extraction.
  3. Load the coffee basket with the correct amount of coffee. Overloading the basket can also cause over-extraction.
  4. Remove the Moka pot from the heat source as soon as the coffee starts to stream out. Leaving the pot on the heat source for too long can cause over-extraction.
  5. Run cold water over the bottom chamber of the Moka pot to quickly stop the brewing process and prevent over-extraction.
  6. Experiment with different brew times, coffee-to-water ratios, and grind sizes until you find the perfect combination to achieve a balanced, flavorful cup of coffee.

Remember that over-extraction can result in bitter or burnt-tasting coffee, so it’s essential to monitor your Moka pot during the brewing process and take steps to prevent over-extraction.
